Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead Retro

Report

Based on the traditional Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, this creative and colorful Miro board guides teams through an end of sprint retrospective while honoring the cultural holiday. The board includes facts and history about Día de los Muertos, an interactive icebreaker where you can decorate your own sugar skull (calavera), and a space for you and your team to provide feedback on the sprint.

What:

An interactive retrospective with a Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead theme, complete with information explaining the Mexican holiday.

Who:

This template is perfect for any agile team, especially those that are open to learning new and diverse cultural information.

When:

This is to be used to facilitate a team's retrospective at the end of a sprint. In particular, it can be used around Día de los Muertos which is celebrated from midnight on October 31 - November 2.

How:

  • Create a new board with the template or add it to an existing board.

  • As the facilitator, familiarize yourself with the example board. You can leave this as an example for the team or remove it ahead of time.

  • During the team's retrospective, start by reading the "About Día de los Muertos" section or allow the team to read it on their own.

  • Move to the first activity, the calavera (sugar skull) decorating icebreaker. Again, read the provided information or allow users to read it. Timebox the icebreaker to about 5 minutes, allowing the team to decorate their own calavera. For ease of use, remind users to copy and paste the decorations instead of moving them.

  • Once the team has had an opportunity to look at each other's calaveras, move to the main retrospective, starting with the history of Día de los Muertos. Go question by question allowing users to provide feedback for the prompt and then discuss as a team.

  • At any time, team members can give shoutouts to others in the "Leading the Parade" section.
